Armaplate exhibited at the GMEX, Manchester this weekend and came away with a good number of serious enquiries from potential franchisees. Visitors came from all over the UK and many appointments for further interviews have been booked as a result.
Simon Waddington, MD, said "I was amazed at how eager people were to find out more about our franchises. I think the fact that we have traded successfully for 10 years before franchising, has really set us apart from the rest, not to mention that our product is unique and patented". Because of the high number of enquirers, Armaplate have decided not to exhibit at the Franchise Show at Olympia in London. "We want to make sure that we add franchises in a very controlled and paced manner. We're not here to recruit franchisees in their droves - we're trying to expand our business and create franchise opportunities which will flourish and grow, to the benefit of everyone involved" said Tom McQuiggan, Operations Director.

Armaplate's first franchisee, Gary Robinson, started off as our pilot back in March 2004. Having successfully completed the 12 months pilot, he became a fully fledged franchisee and secured Doncaster, Sheffield, Rotherham and Barnsley areas. Gary continues to do amazingly well, growing from strength to strength! Managing Director, Simon Waddington said "Having a good franchisee like Gary is just like having a good partner in business".
ARMAPLATE AT THE NEC!
Armaplate launched its Franchise business at the NEC Birmingham on Friday 7th October and was swamped with potential franchisees from all over the UK.
Simon Waddington, Managing Director said "We just couldn't believe how much interest we generated at the show. I think its because of the fact that we are new to the industry and we have something very special and unique. On the first day, we literally didn't have time for a drink or bite to eat!"
Since returning from the show, people have been phoning and emailing every day. We now have a 2 week waiting list for an appointment! The fact that we don't "take anybody" has meant the introduction of some necessary delays in awarding franchises. We want to make sure that we choose the right people for our franchise areas, because our future and theirs, depends on it!

Armaplate have discovered a major security weakness in the Mercedes Sprinter. With nothing more than a coat hanger or similar, the sideload door can be opened without even touching the outer lock barrel.
Update - June 2005. Mercedes have now sealed the vulnerable area and a security risk is no longer present.

Armaplate have introduced a new plate-replacement guarantee scheme whereby any plate which is damaged following an attempted break-in, will be replaced free of charge for a period of 12 months. Armaplate sent out the first Newsletter to their existing customer-base this month. Feedback has been very positive and many new contacts have subscribed to the mailing list. Ford recently recalled their new-style Transit vans after discovering that the central-locking mechanism could be activated by cutting through the wiring-loom on the back door. Although the Ford mod addresses the wiring configuration, it does nothing to stop thieves from cutting the loom to attempt the break-in. We have a new product which thwarts any such attack.
